Ideas can be ordered in an endless combination. Yet in every film , video and animation, knowing which combination is right and how to build it is key.
The director is the conductor in a collaborative artwork where scripting, scouting, sound, camera, lighting, acting, set design, wardrobe, makeup, editing and scoring must all play their parts in harmony.
Inevitably, the director appears in the work. As a reflection of its scenes. As an echo of its tone and energy. As an architect of new ideas or an advocate for necessary change.
There is always an imprint.
Unseen but unmistakeable, that imprint is where the filmmaker takes her pride. The director, her meaning. The editor, her confident satisfaction.
